Our Story

In 2008, Kate & Kate met through mutual friends. They hit it off immediately & quickly became best friends. Their kindergarten kids and toddlers loved to play together. The Pouch Australia business journey started 3 years later. Kate & Kate had been focussed on their families and part time work but were completely overwhelmed by the amount of toys spread through their homes. Kate C said to Kate O, "I have an idea and I really need you to make me something like I had as a child!" Kate explained about the toy bag she and her brothers had as kids. She described the denim fabric that was pulled up with coloured string through many eyelets around the edge. They were unable to find anything like it to buy in shops or online. So with chaos in their homes, third pregnancies underway and a love for creative play and design, Kate & Kate started their business journey. Kate O crafted the first prototypes and the Play Pouch was born!

The Inspiration

This was the toy bag that Kate C had as a child. It had many eyelets around the edge of a circle of denim and red rope that pulled up through the eyelets.

Kate and Kate are best mates and busy mums who created a product out of the need for less mess and chaos in their homes!

The Play Pouch was born from a need to tame the toys in our homes! Our kids have been our inspiration, our motivation, our test bunnies, our models and our greatest achievements.
